How much does a subclass 600 Visitor visa cost?
It depends on the stream. The Tourist stream applied for outside Australia, the Business Visitor stream, the Sponsored Family stream and the Approved Destination Status stream are each AUD 250. The Tourist stream applied for inside Australia is AUD 630, and a subsequent temporary application charge of AUD 700 may also apply. The Frequent Traveller stream is AUD 1,845.
How long can you stay on a subclass 600 Visitor visa?
The Department of Home Affairs may grant a stay of 3, 6 or 12 months in the Tourist stream. The Business Visitor stream allows a stay of up to 3 months. The Frequent Traveller stream can be granted with a validity period of up to 10 years, allowing stays of up to 3 months on each entry. The period granted is set by Home Affairs, not chosen by the applicant.
Can you apply for a subclass 600 visa from inside Australia?
Only in the Tourist stream applied for in Australia, which costs AUD 630 and requires you to be in Australia both when you apply and when the application is decided. The Tourist stream applied for outside Australia, the Business Visitor stream, the Sponsored Family stream and the Frequent Traveller stream all require you to be outside Australia at both points.
Can you work on a subclass 600 Visitor visa?
No. The Business Visitor stream permits short business visitor activities such as meetings or negotiations, but you cannot work or sell goods or services to the public. Working in breach of a visitor visa condition can lead to visa cancellation and affect later applications, so get advice before starting any activity that might be treated as work.
What is the Sponsored Family stream and what is a security bond?
The Sponsored Family stream allows a visitor to be sponsored, usually by an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, for a stay of up to 12 months. The application charge is AUD 250. Home Affairs may require the sponsor to pay a security bond, which is refundable if the visitor complies with their visa conditions and departs on time.
What are the basic requirements for a subclass 600 Visitor visa?
You must be a genuine visitor who intends to stay temporarily, and you must have enough funds to support your stay and to leave Australia. Health and character requirements also apply. Refusals most often turn on the genuine visitor assessment, which weighs your circumstances at home against incentives to remain in Australia.
